Further, Margie’s skills in health waivers is complemented by her extensive training in cognitive assessment including IQ testing of children and adults, neuropsychological assessments and learned directly from Dr. Kylie Gray and Deborah Sweeney in diagnostic assessments using the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS); and measuring social and communication deficits in children with Autism using the Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R). She has trained with Everett and Adriana James and holds Trainer qualifications with the American Board of Neuro-Linguistic Programming
Because of her extensive background in psychological testing, assessment and report-writing, Margie has also been involved in complex cases with Immigration and the MRT, in which she represented and won. Tribunal Member Robert Wilson congratulated Margie on her oral representation of clients at a recent hearing (Singh vs Minister of Immigration and Border Protection) lauding her for her “very excellent submission” enabling a “very good” hearing. At the same time, Tribunal Member Michael Cooke complimented Margie for her oral submission at a separate hearing (Khong vs Minister of Immigration and Border Protection) saying that she was “excellent and very helpful” during the hearing.
As Australia has evolved in becoming one of the most multi-cultural nations, Margie Dizon understands that those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds are often misunderstood so she goes one step further with her ensuring sensitivity and confidentiality are maintained at all times with her assessments and consultations.
She attributes her success mostly to her extensive training and supervision in Psychology. Her forte lies in her clinical skills in the assessment, interviews and gathering of pertinent information with her clients whilst remaining sensitive to the their different needs. She emphasises that her role is a privilege working with different clients from different walks of life.
“It is important to remain honest and transparent in all our dealings; our clients put us in a trustworthy role in their lives and so long as the client allows us to maintain this honest and open relationship, I am able to write successful submissions on their behalf. Our team is privileged to assist them to make their residency in Australia happen.”
Her career spans clinical assessment and psychological services with the Child and Adolescent Team of the Department of Families, Couples, individual and family therapy at Anglicare RESOLVE Dispute and Mediation Resolutions, consulting in human resources, having lectured at Charles Darwin University and headed the promotional activities for the international marketing programs and courses (for the formerly known Faculty of Science and Technology).
Margie is completing her Doctorate in Psychology at James Cook University and is an active Migration Institute of Australia member and Member of the migration alliance. She participates regularly in Continuing Professional Development both in Migration Law and Psychology to keep abreast of the latest trends. This is important as the Migration Act and Migration Regulations are updated regularly.
Margie holds full registration to practice Migration Law with the Office of the Migration Agents Registration Authority; Member of the Migration Institute of Australia (MIA), and Member of Migration Alliance. She also holds full registration to practice Psychology with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA); an Associate Member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS); a Certified Trainer of the American Board of Hypnotherapy; Certified Trainer of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, and Certified Trainer of Time Line Therapy (R).
