Australian visa support for Ukraine nationals


Australia’s Department of Home Affairs has announced its significant support to nationals of Ukraine that includes the following:

  • all of their visas will be automatically renewed for a further six months, if their visas are expiring prior to 30th June 2022 and they are already onshore Australia;
  • processing visa applications from all visa categories as a top priority;

If they are already in Australia and their visas are expiring prior to the 30th June 2022, their visas will be automatically renewed. They do not have to re-apply for any other visas. Instead, the Department of Home Affairs will be contacting each visa holder in Australia to check if they wish to extend their stay in Australia.

Celebrating success with the Patchaye family!

We are so blessed to have been part of the Patchaye family’s journey in securing their permanent residency. Celebrating with Preet, Bhupinder and Navreet!

Gurpinder (Preet), her husband Bhupinder and their son Navreet all have the important ingredient that successful people possess…the courage to do and go where others won’t. Preet’s family had an amazing finish to a tumultuous journey with navigating the Australian immigration system.
Both husband and wife initially came over on student visas and once qualified, Preet was sponsored by an employer. Unfortunately, that did not push through successfully which left Preet with no choice but to look for opportunities elsewhere. Both husband and wife braved it and drove across Australia and found themselves in the Territory. Preet, who initiated a face to face application with the Childcare Centre Manager Owner was offered a job on the spot. Moreover, legislation was about to change so it was a timely event that the Childcare Centre Owner referred Preet and Bhupinder to Migration Corporation of Australia. A section 48 bar meant that an offshore application must be lodged prior to legislation scheduled to change. Youngster Navreet flew on his own from Brisbane to meet his parents in Adelaide; whereas Preet and Bhupinder drove 300 km from Katherine to catch a flight to meet their son so that all could exit Australia in time for an offshore application. With Preet’s passport being less than six months valid, the airline refused to board them for their Bali trip so they had re-route their flights to India were she would be allowed to go to renew her passport. This had to be done immediately for the timing of immigration rules changing and disadvantaging the whole family.
Careful and meticulous planning with Registered Migration Agent, Margie Dizon, ensured all options were discussed and set out. Cyclone Marcus caused a power outage across Darwin which meant the decision-ready application was challenged by nature and perseverance won in the end.

CJ’s overflowing joy!

Our hearts are overflowing with joy as we celebrate many wins!!! One of them is obtaining Australian citizenship for CJ Smith. Congratulations, Smith family!!! Charra Jamella Smith is now an Australian citizen by descent at only two years old. This is a special case as the assessment was tough but we won with flying colours in the end. Celebrations all around for our Italian Chef extraordinaire Matteo Cadoni!!! For quite some time, Matteo has always loved our posts of visa grants, hoping that one day, it will be his story that we will tell. Today is the day. Matteo’s journey was not the easiest and could certainly have been the most trying and arduous. He had to beat change of circumstances, sponsors and employer, the legislation changing, his 457 visa expiring and having to fly all the way to the Philippines to sit the IELTS. Lo and behold, after turning up at the test centre with casual clothes on, he was turned away! Quick thinking on his feet and a helpful staff at the office, he ‘leased’ appropriate clothes to make it on time to beat the deadline and pass with flying colours!!! Baking croissants which is not an Italian cuisine was a stickler (which he still passed) for his skills assessment.

Fast forward to now, we are reeling with celebrations of joy to the culmination of Matteo’s Australian visa journey. We are very thankful indeed. He chose us from the start of his journey right to the very end. Joy celebrates with her head held up high

After nearly 8 years in the territory, she celebrates with her head held up high. She started her journey on a student visa and having experienced many challenges, including very low times in her life and having to extend her candidature to complete her degree in Nursing, she persisted. Delays with her assessments with AHPRA and ANMAC meant she had to consider other pathways to extend her stay. Joy completed her initial nursing degree in the Philippines and came to Darwin, Australia to upgrade her qualifications to Australian standards. Thankfully, due to her commitment in getting employment in her field and with the immigration advice and assistance from Margie Dizon and Cecilia Dela Vega of Migration Corporation of Australia, meant that the NT Government recognised and awarded her Expression of Interest (EOI) with an invitation for permanent residency.

Kung work ka nang work dito tapos hindi mo naman naasikaso ang [visa] situation mo dito, paano ka maka-work nang mas mahaba pa?” [“If you keep working and working and you do not appropriately deal with your visa situation, how else can you work longer in Australia?”]. As a former international student who has recently obtained her permanent residency through territory government sponsorship, she advises managing time wisely, especially devoting the appropriate time to study their courses and to plan ahead to do what is necessary to become eligible for government sponsorship (including taking leave from work, if necessary, to seek expert migration assistance). She humbly talks about her mistakes and generously shares her positive learnings throughout her journey.

Steve and Eyve’s dream for Aisyah

Once upon a time, Steve and Eyve Johnstone’s dream was to share their beautiful life in Australia with daughter Aisyah. Migration Corporation of Australia duo Margie Dizon and Cecilia Dela Vega have made it come true.
Eyve and Steve Johnstone, successful business owners of UB Cool in Darwin, initially thought that Aisyah would never be able to join them in Australia. Aisyah stayed back with her grandmother in Indonesia whilst her mother Eyve made the move to Australia to live with husband Steve many years ago. Confusing information made Eyve and Steve believe that they could never get their daughter to come and live with in Australia. Everything changed when they met Margie and Cecilia.
